Nicholas’s practice focuses on tax law as well as regulatory compliance.

Nicholas regularly represents taxpayers in tax appeals before the courts, the Special Commissioners of Income Tax and the Customs Appeal Tribunal. He also assists clients in dealing with complex tax issues that arise from commercial transactions and restructuring exercises as well as managing audits or investigations conducted by the Inland Revenue Board and the Royal Malaysian Customs Department.

Additionally, Nicholas advises clients on regulatory and compliance issues such as licensing requirements, compliance with rules imposed by regulators as well as compliance with legislation like the Financial Services Act 2013, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2009 and the Personal Data Protection Act 2010. He advises and assists clients in dealing with investigations and prosecutions conducted by the authorities for white collar matters to ensure that the client’s rights and reputation are protected.

Nicholas is also experienced in corporate and commercial law. He has negotiated, reviewed and drafted various commercial agreements such as shareholder agreements, financing agreements including Syariah financing, share sale agreements, service agreements and distribution agreements.
